TOP HUNG

Perfect for high-level ventilation and privacy, top hung windows open outward from the bottom with built-in friction brakes.

Ideal for bathrooms and kitchens where you want fresh air with privacy, as cool air flows in below while warm air escapes above. The design maintains excellent thermal performance and energy efficiency through advanced sealing systems.

SIDE HUNG

Our versatile side hung windows open outward on side hinges, offering maximum opening area and excellent ventilation without taking up internal space.

The classic choice for most residential applications, providing excellent ventilation control and unobstructed views. Multi-point locking systems ensure security while maintaining the sleek aesthetics that complement both traditional and contemporary homes.

FULLY REVERSIBLE

Clean your windows safely from inside with fully reversible operation, rotating 180 degrees for complete access to both sides of the glazing.

Particularly valuable for upper floors and hard-to-reach locations, these windows rotate completely, eliminating the need for external cleaning access. They feature weatherproof sealing and varied ventilation options as users can control airflow from multiple angles.

TILT-IN

Tilt-in operation provides secure ventilation by opening inward from the top, creating a controlled airflow while maintaining security and safety.

Ideal for anywhere you want ventilation with security, a gentle inward tilt from the top edge of the window delivers fresh air while the restricted opening prevents accidental falls. The perfect combination of effective airflow, easy operation and energy efficiency.

How do tilt and turn windows work?

A tilt and turn window operates via a single handle with two distinct positions.

In the tilt position, the top edge of the sash tilts inward by a few centimetres, providing secure background ventilation. In the turn position, the sash rotates fully inward on side hinges, opening up to 90 degrees for maximum airflow and internal cleaning access.

What are the main advantages of tilt and turn windows?

Tilt and turn windows offer precise ventilation control, internal cleaning access from any floor level, the ability to accommodate larger sash sizes than traditional casement designs, and high-performance sealing systems.

The dual-function mechanism is particularly well-suited to apartments, upper-floor rooms, and buildings where external cleaning access is restricted.

Are tilt and turn windows suitable for Passive House projects?

Yes. Tilt and turn windows are one of the most widely specified opening configurations in certified Passive House buildings, because the multi-point perimeter seal on the inward-opening sash achieves excellent airtightness.

Norrsken's triple-glazed tilt and turn windows achieve whole-window Uw values around 0.7 W/m²K in the 88mm laminated timber frame, meeting the Passive House Institute's 0.80 W/m²K threshold.

Can tilt and turn windows be made in large sizes?

Yes. Inward-opening hardware can carry greater sash weight than equivalent outward-opening casement hardware, making tilt and turn particularly suitable for larger window openings.

The sash opens fully inward, eliminating concerns about external clearance or wind resistance that can limit outward-opening configurations.

How do tilt and turn windows compare to casement windows?

The primary differences are that tilt and turn windows open inward (improving safety and cleaning access), can accommodate larger sash sizes, and offer the tilt ventilation mode as an additional function.

Casement windows open outward, which can create a stronger weather seal in exposed locations, and may be preferred aesthetically for traditional or heritage designs.

Are tilt and turn windows suitable for bedrooms?

Yes. The restricted-opening tilt mode provides secure background ventilation without the risk of the window being pushed fully open – a useful feature in children's rooms or upper-floor bedrooms.

The inward-opening turn mode is convenient for thorough ventilation and internal cleaning without external access.
