TOP HUNG

Perfect for high-level ventilation and privacy, top hung windows open outward from the bottom with built-in friction brakes.

Ideal for bathrooms and kitchens where you want fresh air with privacy, as cool air flows in below while warm air escapes above. The design maintains excellent thermal performance and energy efficiency through advanced sealing systems.

SIDE HUNG

Our versatile side hung windows open outward on side hinges, offering maximum opening area and excellent ventilation without taking up internal space.

The classic choice for most residential applications, providing excellent ventilation control and unobstructed views. Multi-point locking systems ensure security while maintaining the sleek aesthetics that complement both traditional and contemporary homes.

FULLY REVERSIBLE

Clean your windows safely from inside with fully reversible operation, rotating 180 degrees for complete access to both sides of the glazing.

Particularly valuable for upper floors and hard-to-reach locations, these windows rotate completely, eliminating the need for external cleaning access. They feature weatherproof sealing and varied ventilation options as users can control airflow from multiple angles.

TILT-IN

Tilt-in operation provides secure ventilation by opening inward from the top, creating a controlled airflow while maintaining security and safety.

Ideal for anywhere you want ventilation with security, a gentle inward tilt from the top edge of the window delivers fresh air while the restricted opening prevents accidental falls. The perfect combination of effective airflow, easy operation and energy efficiency.

Maintenance & Weather Resistance

Britain's variable climate demands windows that can withstand persistent rain, strong winds, and temperature fluctuations.

The aluminium exterior provides robust protection against these elements, maintaining its appearance and performance year after year.

Unlike timber windows that require regular external maintenance, alu-clad designs remain virtually maintenance-free. A simple wash with soapy water keeps the powder-coated aluminium looking pristine. This represents significant time and cost savings over the window's lifetime.

Thermal Efficiency

The combination of timber and aluminium delivers remarkable insulation performance.

Wood has inherently low thermal conductivity – approximately 800 times more effective as an insulator than aluminium alone.

When you choose triple glazing within alu-clad frames, you achieve exceptional whole-window U-values – as low as 0.64. This translates directly into warmer rooms, reduced heating bills, and enhanced comfort throughout the year.

The deep frame profiles possible with alu-clad construction accommodate advanced glazing specifications.

The practical result? Stable interior temperatures, reduced condensation risk, and lower heating costs – particularly significant as energy prices fluctuate.

Sustainability Credentials

Made predominantly from timber, the manufacturing processes and waste materials of alu-clad windows are more environmentally friendly than those used for all aluminium or UPVC windows.

The sawdust produced from the production of our timber window frames, for example, is used to heat the factory. Additionally, the improved thermal efficiency of alu-clad windows can significantly contribute to a reduction in your home’s CO2 emissions and your heating bill.

Alu-clad windows align naturally with environmentally conscious building practices. The predominant use of timber – a renewable, carbon-storing material – gives these windows a significantly lower embodied carbon footprint compared to all-aluminium or uPVC alternatives.

We use production waste efficiently. Sawdust from timber processing heats our factory, while offcuts are repurposed. FSC certification ensures forests are managed sustainably, with replanting maintaining long-term timber supplies.

The exceptional thermal performance of alu-clad windows contributes directly to reducing your home's operational carbon emissions. Lower heating demand means less energy consumption, delivering environmental benefits alongside lower utility bills.

For projects targeting Passive House certification or other stringent energy standards, alu-clad windows provide the performance credentials required whilst maintaining design flexibility.

Design Flexibility

Contemporary alu-clad windows offer remarkable customisation options. The aluminium exterior can be finished in any RAL colour, allowing you to perfectly complement your home's architectural style.

Dual-colour finishing presents intriguing possibilities. You might select a bold, contemporary colour externally – perhaps anthracite grey or bronze – whilst choosing a softer tone internally that harmonises with your interior design scheme.

The timber interior can be factory-finished with paint, or treated with translucent stains that showcase the natural wood grain. Many homeowners appreciate this ability to enjoy the warmth and authenticity of real wood inside their homes, whilst benefiting from the sleek, modern aesthetic of aluminium on the exterior.

Frame profiles range from traditional to ultra-contemporary. Slimmer sightlines create a minimalist appearance that maximises glazed area and natural light. Alternatively, deeper frames with decorative mouldings suit heritage properties or renovations where traditional character matters.

Enduring Value

HIgh quality alu-clad windows represent a long-term investment in your home's comfort and value. With proper installation and minimal maintenance, these windows perform reliably for 40-60 years.

Compare this to UPVC windows (20-25 year lifespan) or lower-quality alternatives requiring replacement far sooner, and the lifetime value proposition becomes clear.

Properties with high-performance windows also command premium resale values, as prospective buyers increasingly prioritise energy efficiency and low maintenance requirements. Our customers consistently rate their experience highly, reflecting the long-term satisfaction that comes from choosing quality products backed by genuine care and expertise.

What are alu-clad windows?

Alu-clad timber windows are made from engineered timber clad externally in powder-coated aluminium cladding.

These windows combine the excellent insulation properties, durability and charm of timber with the low maintenance needs of aluminium. As a result, they are some of the most attractive and best quality products on the market.

What are the benefits of alu-clad windows?

Aluminium clad windows are durable and provide excellent insulation thanks to the timber frames.

The aluminium cladding protects the window from weather damage and decay, ensuring a long lifespan of low-maintenance, dependable performance. As a result, they are some of the most attractive and best quality products on the market.

How do alu-clad windows compare to uPVC?

Alu-clad windows deliver superior thermal performance, thanks to timber's excellent insulating properties. They last significantly longer – 45+ years versus 20-35 years for uPVC.

The environmental footprint is lower due to renewable timber and efficient manufacturing. Aesthetically, alu-clad windows offer greater customisation and the authentic appeal of real wood internally. Whilst initial costs are higher, long-term value strongly favours alu-clad specification.

Are alu-clad better than aluminium windows?

While aluminium frames are strong and light, aluminium is a very poor insulating material - over 1000 times worse than wood.

Even with multi-chambered extrusions and thermal breaks, aluminium still performs much more poorly than timber as a frame material. Aluminium also has higher environmental impacts and higher embodied carbon.

Are alu-clad windows expensive?

Alu-clad windows tend to be more expensive than all timber versions and uPVC models.

They offer a wider range of benefits including better thermal performance, aesthetic appeal, a longer lifespan, use of more environmentally friendly materials and lower maintenance. They are certainly the smarter choice for a well-insulated home in the long run.

Can alu-clad windows achieve Passive House standards?

Yes. High-quality alu-clad windows readily meet or exceed Passive House certification requirements.

With appropriate specification – typically including triple glazing, low U-value frames, and careful detailing – these windows deliver the exceptional thermal performance Passive House projects demand. We provide PHPP (Passive House Planning Package) data to support certification applications.
