Lift & Slide Alu-Clad Door (S315A)

Frequently Asked Questions

What panel configurations are available?

The S315A is available in two-panel, three-panel, and four-panel arrangements. The two-panel and four-panel configurations have a 202mm frame depth - the four-panel version adds two sliding leaves in the middle, with the two outer panels fixed. The three-panel triple-track configuration uses a deeper 309mm frame, with one fixed pane and two sliding leaves. It's worth noting that the triple-track option is not suitable for Passive House applications. If Passive House compliance is a requirement, the two-panel or four-panel configuration is the appropriate choice. The Panorama option - which increases the glazed area on the fixed panel - is available on two and four-panel configurations.

What is the flush threshold grille?

A flush threshold grille allows drainage for the floor finish to run continuously at the same level on both sides of the door without a raised threshold profile. This is a significant detail for contemporary open-plan interiors and for projects where a seamless inside-outside relationship is part of the design intent. The grille is not available on the triple-track configuration, and it is not compatible with the threshold extension options.

Is there a threshold extension instead of a flush grille?

Yes. Where a continuous flush floor is not required, a 40mm or 60mm extension to the threshold is available. This extends the threshold profile slightly, which can be useful where the structural threshold requires additional depth to suit the floor build-up. Threshold extensions are not compatible with the flush threshold grille.

What is the maximum width?

Maximum widths vary depending on the configuration and the overall frame dimensions. For planning purposes, approximately 8,500mm is typically achievable - wider installations have also been completed. For verified maximum dimensions on your specific configuration and height requirement, our technical team can confirm accurate limits at the specification stage.

Can I have a sill?

There is no sill option for the S315A. Both 40mm and 60mm threshold extensions are available for situations where additional threshold height is needed, though these are not compatible with the flush threshold grille option. If you need to coordinate with external paving or internal floor finish levels, this is worth discussing at the survey stage.

Is the S315A suitable for Passivhaus projects?

The S315A achieves a whole-door U-value as low as 0.74 W/m²K, which is within the range required for certified Passivhaus buildings. Two-panel and four-panel configurations are suitable for Passivhaus specification. The triple-track three-panel configuration is not suitable for Passivhaus. PHPP data is available to download for this product.

Enhanced Coastal Finish

Enhanced finishing is automatically quoted for projects within 1,500 metres of the sea.

The industry standard for marine grade powder-coated aluminium cladding is 40-100 microns. Our standard non-marine finish across all alu-clad products is 60-80 microns. Our enhanced coastal finish starts at 120 microns, meaningfully thicker than the category baseline, for projects exposed to salt air and prolonged weather.

Regular maintenance is still important to preserve the lifespan of your windows.
